I've had a thermos flask implode on me once. I half-filled a flask with very hot coffee. This heated the air above it, and the increase in air pressure was enough to break the glass lining, causing the vacuum to implode.

That is a possibility. But I would expect the glass to have been designed to survive boiling water.
