Are the points of the polygon in any particular order, like clockwise or counterclockwise?

I don't think it matters whether the order is clockwise or anti-clockwise. But it would make the solution easier to craft if the points were specified in order.

It matters. Consider something which looks like two equilateral triangles, point to point: an X with vertical lines up the sides, filled in. You'd express the points as: Bottom-left; top-left; middle; bottom-right; top-right. Then express the points in a different order: bottom-right; middle; bottom-left; top left; top right - and the figure becomes a filled-in W-with-a-line-across-the-top shape.

As far as I can see, neither of the ordering examples in your post are clockwise or anticlockwise; what I meant was, if they're guaranteed to be either clockwise or anticlockwise, then it won't matter which order is selected. Apologies if I've misunderstood your examples.

Don't worry, if it turns out some piece of crap isn't worth a sequel, they call the next installment "a reboot".
