Simpler solution is to have the locks changed so both doors (on each floor) opens with the same key.

It's one auth system though - the key is like single sign on.

Except it's partitioned: office / domestic.
And that implies staff in the office who are / should not be given automatic access to the living quarters.
(I've worked with people I wouldn't allow in my house when I was home, let alone when I was out.)

I don't get why Vivek doesn't just move into an apartment that has an office room. Should be cheaper and more convenient than renting two separate units.

Even then you just need a more expensive sort of lock that can be opened with both a per door and master key. You have the master key, your minions have just the office one.
Although if your home office has multiple other people working some sort of electronic key system might be a good idea. Much easier than having to rekey the lock because you don't trust a crappy ex-employee not to have copied his key before returning it.
The other simple solution would just be to keep your home and office keys on the same ring so you always have both or neither.

Just upgraded the idea to a Pulley [^] type with two buckets. Now this needs very little space. Less space is good, I should have a bit of "access" to the chick on the other bucket.

You're going to need a "signalling system" as well, to ensure she is in her bucket when you jump in. Otherwise, we're back to the crutches again.

Not necessarily: if she gets out of her bucket and they are in perfect balance then yours will stay in the "living space" position until the system is disturbed.
Plus, you have a major disadvantage here: unless you want HR problems, you need both you and her in the "living area" at the same time in order to fully enjoy the situation.
