I definitely want a projector for my movie watching.

That's because of my friends. Or I should say: Whoever visits me to see a movie, whether friends or others. It seems like everybody today considers a movie screen to be something that flickers away, for them to take a brief glance at now and then, inbetween all the chatting and helping themselves to more food and drink and showing each other their latest pictures on their phones. If something in the movie catches their attention, they remark it, want to talk about it with the others, and if they have seen the movie earlier, they tell what will happen in a few seconds.

Before Chistmas, a friend of mine with a huge LCD screen invited people to watch one specific Christmas movie - that was the very reason for getting together. Yet, ten minutes into the movie, people was still chatting without interruption. After fifteen minutes, the movie action was building up, and the chatting slowly died away... (In case you wonder: The movie was the Finish Christmas Horror Movie "Rare Exports Inc.", highly recommended but it might influence your ideas about Santa Smile | :) ).

My idea about watching a movie is to really watch it. If the movie takes 90 minutes, you give it 90 minutes, in full. The way you do in a movie theater. When the room is pitch dark, people tend to talk a lot less. They are less tempted to look for the snacks or beer. So they are more easily captured by the movie, quieting down, putting their cellphones away.

Maybe five years from now people will ignore the darkness and chat away even in my movie room (and in movie theaters). But for now, a projector significantly reduces the amount of disturbances for those who really want to watch the movie.
