This may come as a surprise to you, but most higher-level management have more on their plates than your project. They cannot be expected to remember the intimate details of everything that goes on in the company; that's why they have lower-level management (project leaders, team leaders, etc.).
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.
