Had to break out the Babylon 5 encyclopedia for this....
A man named Loriel claims to be the first one of the species known as the First Ones.
As for the species, they are described asDelenn wrote: There are beings in the universe billions of years older than either of our races. Once, long ago, they walked among the stars like giants... vast and timeless.

It was the story behind the song "Dancing in the moonlight" written by Sherman Kelly.
An interview with Sherman Kelly was shown in the Dutch TV program "TOP2000" where he told the story of how this song came about.
Despite the joyful sound about a place of joy and harmony, where everyone gets along dancing under the moonlit sky, the background of this song is rather unexpected.
After a trip to the Caribbean island of Saint Croix, he decided to sleep on the beach with his wife, but was attacked by natives with baseball bats and left for dead.
While he was recovering from his injuries, he wrote this song. "I envisioned an alternate reality," Kelly wrote on his website. "The dream of a peaceful and joyful celebration of life."
The TOP2000 interview can be viewed (probably only for Dutch viewers) at 39 mins in:

The story can also be found on his website: Sherman Kelly[^]

Here's a link to "all 13578" items under Microsoft.public.* (or so it's claimed).
Or at least that's Google's archive of them. MS itself has closed them down years ago (I remember the announcement in favor of some web interface).

I bought a Razer gaming mouse...
And it feels like its software wants to update like twice a week....
Sometimes I even have to "log in" to start the software (needed to change DPI on the fly, I think)
And now the update process needed me to restart...
What a bother!

It sounds like Microsoft!

Certainly not their Mouse and Keyboard software (drivers + config utility). I was surprised to get an update for that a few weeks ago. The last time that thing prompted me to update it was in 2015 (I still have the timestamped downloads). And even then, that might have been me proactively seeking it out.

No, I was thinking about the incredible amount of forced updates that we like to complain about...

WOW-what does that mouse software do? transfer your system use to other party?

I get the impression that it might be just slightly over-engineered.
Is it compatible with Alexa?
...
Ah. A quick web-search shows that it uses "cloud-based configuration", meaning that it might even have a built-in web browser (because that's what hardware manufacturers think is an efficient way to access web files), and a ridiculously bloated update mechanism.
I second Nitin's suggestion: block it from accessing the Internet.
If it still thrashes (because it can't get access), dump it. A mouse that consumes more than a few K of system resources is a joke, and will be cr@p for gaming.
