I just had an email from the dominant retail chain in our area that they will be closing 3 hours earlier for the time being, to give their staff more time to
a) sanitize the public areas and
b) to restock shelves in view of the significant increase in turnover they are experiencing.
My daughter works in the deli area of the store and she is one of the staff members who have been temporarily re-assigned to goods receiving area where incoming items are processed, to help with the processing of the significantly larger volume of incoming shipments.
I am sure that this is a pretty universal situation in the country, that will help to alleviate the current shortages being experienced, at least to some extent.

Until the delivery chains break... that is going to be the point when things will go bad quickly.

You're not wrong per se, but the fact is that delivery chains are unlikely to get too badly broken (unless you can't live without a new iphone), so it's not a priority for Joe Public to fret over.

Agreed! And here where we are the most critical food items (most vegetables, bread, eggs, etc.) are produced in areas not far from the city. So these items do not need to be transported over long distances. Other items (canned foods, paper products, etc.) are a different story!

Not every place are like this. There is many areas that have got specialised in only a product to maximize the benefits... those are the ones that will get hit hard if there are logistic problems.

Example #1: The logistic company moving something from one land to another gets closed by quarentene.
Example #2: The driver of the lorry moving A to B has a simple cold or maybe the "normal" flu, but it is controled in the frontier and they think might be a corona, lorry stoped and driver in quarentene.
Example #3: Some people working at the harbour gets infected, the harbor closes due to quarentene.
I know, those examples are things that might be repared, but the delay could be big enough to have shortcuts on concrete products.
And in extreme cases the chain could break.
Only because the people wants to feed their families, it doesn't mean that they get allowed to.

I remember hurricane Katrina and how it did break the supply chain because trucks could not get to where they needed to go. This situation is different and is caused by people not using logic or reason.

I answered a QA yesterday with some very simple code just to show how to get two values, compare and take action. I included some Console.WriteLine() statements to show the values of the various items as the code runs. I wondered whether the OP would complain because my code was for a console app rather than a WinForm. And sure enough this morning I get the reply:

Yeah I've had a few of those - one I think had problems that NameOfYourClassThatYouKNowAndIDont was undefined ... 
Some of these guys aren't even trying to think, they want it given ready to be handed in to the tutor - I seem to remember offering to do even that for one guy, if he gave me his tutors email address.

It certainly seems worse these days. So many of the questions now seem to be, "I couldn't find the answer on Google, so I have no idea what to do.". And that is where they stop.

I think a lot of it is down to many governments trying to get everybody to be able to code, without caring if they have any aptitude or even if their teachers can understand the subject.
Lazy students, doing a course they don't want to be on, having not had an original thought since they were born, trying to get through without frightening the little grey cells into activity ...
