Darn, I thought this might have something to do with the song by James Brown of the same name.
"They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers! Can I get an amen?"

No, I was not thinking of that song.

Several years ago, when I was still working, I was discussing music preferences with a 30 something Black coworker and I mentioned Nina Simone as a favorite. He said he had never heard of her.

That is one of the most obvious signs for me to know that I am getting old: Whether I refer to (any of) my favorite artists, authors, movie makers, radio programs ... to my coworkers, I get a blank stare back. They don't know any of them.
And I return the service: When they refer to their fantasy litteratue heroes, the new Netflix series, the computer games they play, then it is my turn to give them a blank stare.

I just installed Windows 10 2004 and discovered the text cursor indicator. It lets you put colored balls at the top and bottom of the text cursor. You pick the color and size. This is great! Before, I tried making the cursor fatter but this didn't make it any easier to find and confused where the insertion point was. These colored balls I can see and still keep the cursor thin!

Well, it was about time they grew some balls on the text cursor .

You can find it under "Ease of Access", or just enter "cursor" in "Find a setting" to search for it.

Great! I just started to use it.
Easy to find the cursor. Some times I used the thick cursor, but this has the problem that it could be confused with "Insert Mode". This one is much better.

Aw... My cursor's becoming a man!

Seems like it depends on the individual application on whether or not this feature works. Maybe they aren't using the built-in system cursor?
Working examples:
Brave browser (essentially Chromium)
Slack
Notepad
Ubuntu console
Non-working examples:
Notepad++
Visual Studio Code
Git Bash
LibreOffice

They are mostly pretty old, or pretty ... um ... rubbish, but there are some "oldie but goodie" ones in there. And they cost nothing, so that's a good price!

I see some Ultima games there.
I remember that Ultima II or III had a McDonwald's burger joint.
It was best practice to rob the drive thru for easy coin and then flee the city guards.

Akalabeth? Really? That must be from 1979. I used to play that on an Apple II when I raided a computer store after school.

His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

I'm not sure how many cookies it makes to be happy, but so far it's not 27.
