When I got my new job I immediately made a huge difference to the company's productivity. I used to "do three impossible things before breakfast" (actually before lunch) and got widespread praise and admiration.
After a while it was expected... and I got criticized for running out of miracles to perform! Life sucks, sometimes.
In my current job, I get respect because I ration my miracles to whenever I feel like performing them.

I have a rather strange cat. He likes his stomach petted and will walk over to me and roll over so I can do it for him. I have had cats for about fifty years and this is the first one that has ever done this kind of thing. All of the others thought I was playing with them when I did it.

The best way to avoid blood loss* takes a lot of time. Start 'em as kittens and always be gentle. Dogs may like a vigorous belly rub; cats don't. My 15 yo cats love a gentle belly rub.
* in my experience, most cats bite if you touch their belly. Some just grab while others act like your hand is tuna.

After the kids are out of school, my wife and I will most likely move somewhere more hospitable, for sure.
Words cannot describe how much I dislike this winter climate. At least I am working from home and do not have to drive in this weather to get to work; very dangerous driving conditions.

Maybe I’m an incorrigible romantic, but it seems to me that snowstorms bring the best in people. People are unfailingly polite, acknowledge you with a smile and ready to help. Even drivers, and it is a widely accepted fact that Montreal drivers are the second worst in North America after the New York ones, become considerate and unhurried. It might be the realization that, Holly Molly, if something bad happens, without these fellow humans I might be in deep trouble. Anyway I would change it for the world

Now I understand that Montreal drivers would suck - consider Paris drivers and that you all speak the same language (a grunt is a grunt is a grunt) and share the same attitude about that dying language - it makes sense.
I've driven in a lot of US cities - at least from the midwest on eastward. Chicago drivers were worse - wouldn't let you change lanes even when it was essential for you, but, at the same time, their cab drivers drove much better and more politely than those in NYC.
In more rural places - the pickups drive down the center of a two-lane one way road as routine. "Get outta' m'way, here ah come!".
A national epidemic seems to be that many drivers have decided that they are abrogating their agreement to stop at stop-signs and red lights.

No - not at all what you're apparently used to.
I mean putting on your signal because you must get over to make a turn and awaiting another drivers allowing you to get in. Or, Chicago style, speeding up to make sure no one can get in . . . except, ironically, the cab drivers.

yep, only in chicago. In every other city in the US you turn on your turn signal and eventually someone will let you over. Not Chicago
