Dunno if I'd call it a "bad back" but a lifetime of bad posture certainly hasn't been great. Working on fixing that but unfortunately "ergonomic" chairs designed for posture actually harm my back since I'm WAYYY outside of the height parameters they design for (I'm ~6'6"). I saw Mike mention using your stomach muscles which I can attest works in taking some of the job off your spinal erector muscles; also pushing your butt back in your chair to stop your lower back from rounding seems to help take some additional strain off for me.
