Being picky, though: ravenous means being very hungry; devouring means eating something hungrily. The two are related but "ravenous" certainly doesn't mean "devouring" so the clue's not really in the correct form...?
(Am only posting this 'cos I'm really, really ticked off with a "user" who is changing the requirement, not telling me WHAT they're actually doing (supposedly I'm FTPing a file into a folder; actually I'm talking to a custom-written service of theirs using the FTP protocol, and they're not returning correct FTP status codes); and all this being done on our live server (because of good reasons) but meaning that finding the data they want is like a needle in a haystack because of data volumes, and.... he's just interrupted me from even making a comment on a crossword clue! Sheesh, some people need to get their priorities right...  )
