We are using Sql server 2005 standarad edition 32 bit. We need to upgrade sql server 2008 R2 enterprise edition 64 bit.

I googled it. they gave three steps which i mentioned below.

1. Update Microsoft .NET Framework to 3.5 SP1
2. Install Hotfix for Windows X64 (KB942288-V4)
3. Upgrade SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008

How to do the above steps ? is the above steps s require for waht?

What I have tried:

I took backup, revlogin, jobs, linkedserver an etc...

I need steps to do the up-gradation.

Thanks in advance

I am not able to select features during the upgradation. it says it s not possible to change the features.

1 solution

Google for each stage, and it's pretty simple:
1) Update Microsoft .NET Framework to 3.5 SP1 - Google Search[^]
2) Install Hotfix for Windows X64 (KB942288-V4) - Google Search[^]
3) Is even simpler: 2008 supports in place upgrade, provided the basic system requirements are met. So run the SQL 2008 installer, and it should just work.
