When trying to connect to a server in Management Studio (specifically 2008), there is a field where you enter the Server name. That field also has a drop-down list where it shows a history of servers that you have attempted to connect to.

I would like to know, how it got removed?

Can anyone help on this

You can delete the file at the following location to remove the history.

C:\Users\[YourUser]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Shell\SqlStudio.bin

The file location may differ based on your operating system. The one above is for Windows 7.

Yes. I understood. Sometimes automatically history was cleared. Why we are getting this type of issue.

clear the server list in SQL Server Management Studio[^] and now also at drop-down list where it shows a history of servers in sql server[^]

All of the solutions to your posts describe how the list can be cleared. If sometimes it is being cleared when you don't expect it then somebody or something must be doing one of the steps in one of the links already provided.
