I have been developing a slate tablet based reporting system for my employer for about 7-8 months now. The iPad is a real device that is here-and-now. I have used several other here-and-now devices, but none compare to the iPad in 4 critical areas: Ease of use, quality of screen, quality of touch screen/onscreen keyboard and battery life. While others are faster (once booted), none can make the cut in all areas. The best option today is the iPad. I can't wait 6-12 more months for a better option. When a better option comes around, I will be ready because I am developing the reporting system as primarily an HTML5 application with a thin iPad app as a shell. I would have preferred a Windows 7 powered device with a custom Chrome browser, but that just can't be done yet due to hardware limitations.

Just not sure about value for money yet.
I, maybe, need to wait for a few more reviews.

Thanks a bunch for the link.
Between the locking out of 'unapproved' software and censorship, I now find myself downright proud to have never purchased an Apple product !

Thanks for the wiki link.
But I'd like to wait for more reviews.

Agreed. I would pay $50 to $100 for this thing if I could use it with wifi and have no data contract. Although, I own apple stock so I would like to see these sell like hotcakes.
