A young family moved into a house next door to an empty plot. One day, a gang of building workers turned up to start building on the plot.
The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and started talking with the workers.
She hung around and eventually the builders, all with hearts of gold, more or less adopted the little girl as a sort of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had tea and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important.
They even gave the child her very own hard hat and gloves, which thrilled her immensely.
At the end of the first week, the smiling builders presented her with a pay envelope - containing two pounds in 10p coins. The little girl took
her 'pay' home to her mother who suggested that they take the money to the bank the next day to open a savings account.
At the bank, the female cashier was tickled pink listening to the little girl telling her about her 'work' on the building site and the fact she had a 'pay packet'.
'You must have worked very hard to earn all this', said the cashier.
The little girl proudly replied, 'Yes, I worked every day with Steve and Wayne and Mike. We're building a big house.'
'My goodness gracious,' said the cashier, 'And will you be working on the house again next week?'
The child thought for a moment. Then she said seriously:
'I think so. Provided those wankers at Jewsons deliver the f***ing bricks on time.'

Why would you give them Admin access ?
Just have an admin account, your main account with "power user" privileges and an "guest" account with limited access (browse, use apps, ... )
You could even have different limited account for your different friends.
I'd rather be phishing!

Let them log on with their own MS account (thus creating their own account on the machine), and then you log into your own account and modify theirs to be an admin? I don't know if that would work or not, but you could give it a try.

This whole "use a shell around Windows" thing isn't new.
I used to use a shell around Win 3.1 (I think it was called "PowerBar", but can't remember for sure, and googling that would be a waste of effort), and there were numerous shells for Win '95, '98, and Vista.
The only difference now is that baby blocks has resulted in the whole wide world learning that it's possible to run a UI shell.

Yes, because they are all too stupid to realize that their "start menu" is all those blocks on the screen. Or maybe they'd much rather click, then scroll, then find what they are looking for, then accidentally close the wrong one they opened, then close it, then repeat the process and choose the correct program this time.
That's waaaaay better than clicking the block on the screen to start a program.

the "start screen" is replacing the "start menu" that's true so far. But its not an equivalent for it! You can do so much more with the start menu than with the start screen.
Examples:
You can't group multiple applications together (As with subfolders in the start menu) unless you manually clutter your start screen with all those small applications and arrange them in groups. Especially makes a lot of sense if you just use them say once a month.
The start menu was able to provide links to a lot of applications without getting too messy. Most often you were able to find the application you were searching for by simple following common logic. Sure finding an application on the Windows 8 start screen might be simple... as long as there aren't more than say 20 (made up number) applications on it...
Then again you can search for an application when typing on the start screen... also quite easy but then again you have to KNOW the name of the application you're looking for (how do you remember the name of an applications you don't use on a daily basis?) I e.g. had trouble finding my VPN Client application. as I just couldn't remember the name of it. I knew the name of the vendor but that didn't help when typing in the search box of the start menu as the application name didn't contain the name of the vendor nor the word "vpn". I found it in the start menu because after a quick look at the programs folder of the start menu I found the vendor and so I found the application. Say: How do I find this application in windows 8?
I know this is probaly more an edge case. But those are also always the cases when you don't have time to play around and spend time searching for a certain program.
Additionaly you get the problem of desktop applications vs metro style apps. Let's say you're in the process of writing some documentation and need a programm (a metro app) to get some additional information from (e.g. your default browser). Now hey this application runs as a full screen app. yeah very funny when you quickly want to switch between multiple applications, isn't it?
I wouldn't mind having Windows 8 on a Phone or a Tablet. But using it on a desktop computer for something productive isn't really what I expect of an OS.
