Some people seem to think that copying a paragraph or two from MSDN is an article, and worth the points...  And a few can get abusive when you tell them that isn't acceptable behaviour.
Be careful what you do, and remember: moderation is about helping people to post good articles - so polite explanations of what you think is wrong is fine, but abuse is bad. Except for obvious plagiarism, which is fair game...

A man who has worked at a solicitors, as a solicitor, for 39 years suddenly decides that he no longer wants to be known as Mike, but wants to be known as Melanie.
Melanie has been on hormone treatment and is on the list for GRS soon.
Melanie has had trouble at home with the Hausfrau unt Kinder, unsurprisingly.
Then Melanie turns up at work in frock and make-up.
Melanie is escorted from building and promptly fired.
How do I know this?
A friend of Michelle's is his secretary and has spilled the beans.
Now, I think that it is generally illegal to fire someone of the grounds of sexual orientation or gender reassignment.
Secondly, it seems foolish for a legal firm to do it, by breaking the law they could lose the right to practise.
Thirdly, and this is the really moronic thing to do, do not fire the firms TOP PROSECUTION LAWYER!
As 'Mike' this guy was sh*t-hot at suing people and companies and had earned a fortune for himself, the company and his clients.
Although 'Melanie' may be wearing a gold lame dress and a pair of slingbacks, that forensic mind will now be outside the tent pissing in!

Assuming this is real (it does seem a little too close to the setup for an online drama piece to be sure!), it does seem very odd. I can't see how that's not straight up and down sexual discrimination.
I'm sure it's a huge shock when a man you've worked with for decades is suddenly a woman, but that doesn't make firing him/her justifiable.

Perhaps there is more to the story than meets the eye. It isn't legal on this side of the pond and I wouldn't think that it is leagal to dismiss someone based on the gender reassignment on your side either. Good luck to Melenie.

It happened at a contractor's office where a man decided to become a woman (not sure if everything was removed at that point). The office didn't fire him, but the women refused to allow him/her to use their restroom since they knew him for years and felt uncomfortable. So s/he was asked to use a restroom on another floor. Not sure what happened afterwards since I quit my company and moved away.

Unless the firm can prove that it had valid grounds, other than for gender reassignment, what they did is classic discrimination and unlawful discrimination. Me suspects that there is a lot more to this than meets the eye.

Probably true, but I doubt they'd be stupid enough to fire someone for being female or undergoing GRS. They'd find some other, more legally acceptable reason to fire her.
I suspect that a lot of HR departments would try their best to keep record of every wrongdoing ever in case they need to fire someone at a moment's notice. I hope this is just baseless paranoia, but I doubt it.

At a place I used to work there was a guy who had a sex change.
After the process he came back to work and changed his name to "Amanda"
From that point on whenever I saw him all that went on in my head was "A Man duh!"
Never said it out loud - instant dismissal.
