I think it has great potential but it has a lot of growing an maturing to do first.
The market for it is very volatile, and thieves have stolen millions of dollars of it at a time, so security is an issue I think that they are working on (ongoing process for sure).
As others have said, only invest what you are willing to lose at time of investment.

It is going to crash and burn.
Insecure, an overinflated bubble, demanding huge amounts of server storage and energy to maintain transactions, which are thew only proof anyone owns anything. Imagine it getting hacked. People wealth wiped out.
It is an interesting toy that has become silly.

wasn't that long ago every man and his dog was out to setup an online bookstore, - that battle even took out a well established brick and mortar shop. There's still a few out there, but the one that had the biggest success had to become way more than bookstore to be #1. So will the eventual winner of the CC need to be something else as well? How many will get burned by this.
History always repeats and it sure looks like a "crypto-currency bubble" is forming - getting in is easy, it's avoiding greed and figuring out when to bail that matters.
