I consider myself quite savvy as far as Windows computers are concerned, but not so much when it comes to networks.
I would like to learn more about VPNs, but I have no experience in this field. If you were to start with a VPN for the first time today: Which VPN would you choose? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have three different ones, that I use on different machines at different times.
Of these, I prefer Surfshark[^]

I chose IPVanish after reading various online reviews and have been using it for a couple of years now. In part, the best choice depends on where you're located. I use Windows exclusively and am located in Canada, although I've also used IPVanish in the US. I would recommend that you read some reviews to see which one best fits your needs.

Do you mean VM (Virtual Machine) or VPN (Virtual Private Network)

If you're talking about VM's, I've used Oracle Virtual Box (which is free) and VMWare's free VM. Both work great, but I like the configuration options better in Virtual Box. Feels like I have more control over the VM - processors, memory, disk space, network, than I do with VMWare's free version.
But maybe you meant VPN's after all - no experience there, because the company sets it up and I just connect to it.

i CONSIDER MY SELF SOMEWHAT FAMILIAR. I FOUND AND OLD BAG OF WALNUTS WITH MOLD ON THEM AND THEY qualify as Very Putrid Nuts. my advice, don't eat them, they make you wish you had the covid-19, instead.

Hi All,
I can get less done now than I could before, Trying to get the remote desktop woking is driving me nuts. I can't get teams to install, the stupid thing is I am having to use my own kit for this rather than company supplied stuff (why?). This whole thing is a farce!
 Well at least I can the VPN working!

I'm on day 4, and our vpn only works sometimes, and even if I can get in, I can't log in to one or more of the following - skype, teams, or outlook. I also can't even get to my dev box because it's on a segregated network with no outward-facing access.

Day 5 here. Company provides perfect infrastructure, vpn, rdp, networkaccess, phone redirection etc.
It does not solve my Problem, but it answers my question

good luck, keep at it.
Our infrastructure is OK, brought work PC home, VPN is working ok for remote resources.
Everything is a little bit slower, but I feel I'm more efficient.
I'd rather be phishing!

Now on day 5. The Seniors at my place seem to think it's a good idea to do a daily update webcast. Not surprisingly, with all of us working from home, bandwidth tanks and many of us are either unable to connect or suffering massive latency problems.
Maybe send an email guys? Or share an update on Teams?
