I'm left pond but thankfully get up early most days so you could have your fix!
I'd suggest changing 7am UDT to more like 3pm UDT. Left pond types usually need a couple of hours lead time on most of these to have a chance anyway.

That's field hockey, and it's played by women. Actually, so is hockey nowadays.

And the guys I know who play hockey? I wouldn't advise calling them women to their faces.

How about girly men? They don't even know how to fashion a serviceable hockey stick. The comparable left-pond sport is lacrosse, which is played by real men and women!

Ice hockey is played with little kiddie discs.
Real men play hockey without any cowardly padding, and go for the balls.

Who needs pads if there's no obstruction, let alone contact? And forget fighting! Only played by, and watched by, gentlemen.

Someone who chose the Netherlands should look more favorably on hockey! Canadians think they invented it--and Scots think they invented curling--but very similar things are clearly evident in this well-known Renaissance painting[^]:

Everyone knows that absolutely everything was invented in the US.

Just a few months back there were some worried about AI taking over. They had so much faith in software already developed and now, this. I do not know if I am comparing like to like because I am not that knowledgeable on this subject. Still, I think if there exists a software that can replace humans, there should be a software which can deal with this scenario.

There isn't: because all the models there are (and could be at present) are based on non-existent data - guesses - as to all the major factors. Transmissibility, infection numbers, fatalities, ... none of these are actually known for all (or indeed any) population (with the exception of South Korea where they have tested nearly the whole population).
It's a mess!

So I was right when every single time I read a article hinting AI taking over, I thought of it as BS.

Science journos and Bill Gates and Elon Musk.
And then there's this: Things that are called ML/AI that really aren’t[^].
Personally, I think it doesn't even exist because we don't even know what intelligence is, let alone artificial intelligence.
You know, the "South American tribes are stupid because they can't do math and still believe in voodoo and witch doctors. But to them you're stupid because you couldn't survive a day in the rain forest so who's stupid now?" debate.
All the "AI" we have now is ML, and they're two completely different things yet they are used interchangeably.
But "doing AI" keeps investors happy...

No, not even South Korea, they have reported 518743 tested cases until yesterday (According to the ECDC), which makes roughly 1% of the population.
Italy has meanwhile done 1.05 million tests, not cases. (also according to the ECDC)
I have no idea whether that's actually more or less for the population as I don't know how many tests they do per person. I understand that's variable.
I think that fact underlines everything your linked cartoon said.
Brilliant cartoon BTW.

Here is the data directly from the korean CDC 질병관리본부[^] They are talking cases all the time.
The data from the Italian Protezione Civile can be found here: GitHub - pcm-dpc/COVID-19: COVID-19 Italia - Monitoraggio situazione[^] Figures relate to 'Tamponi' (the number of 'swabs' tested)
The numbers as such are consistent enough with Worldometers. But not necessarily what has been measured.

Note that you can sort on arbitrary column. (The Up/Down arrows are so light grey that I overlooked them for quite some time!)
As you can see, USA is leading the race both in total cases and total deaths, and even total tests. In "Tests/1M pop" they are #42. (Actually that is up from #44 last time I checked, three days ago.)
I hear from the press conferences that USA is doing everything right. Yet they have more than twice as many deaths/1M as we have here in Norway (3.5 times that of Canada), and we got started several weeks before the USA, and have comparatively few new cases nowadays. We also have made almost tree times as many test/1M as the USA, but we must admit that USA beats us in absolute number of tests. Actually, in absolute numbers, they easily can beat any country with a population of a couple percent of the USA, so no misinformation is given, as long as references are to absolute number, independent of population size.
Another interesting two figures are the ratio between Total Recovered and Total Death: Of those who has been hit by the virus and come through it, one way or the other, how large fraction has recovered. But maybe it is not appropriate to ask questions why many other countries have a far higher ratio of recoveries to fatalities, when we are talking about the highest medical expertise in the world.
It is a comforting to know that the US administration is doing everything absolutely right. If they had been less perfect in their actions, maybe they would have had many times the Norwegian (or Canadian) deaths/1M.
