In Sql Server, a varchar column only takes two bytes when it's empty, and then only consumes the space required by its value when it's populated. How is that "fixed length"?

Agreed, it is variable length - up to a point. But if you try to insert an eleven-character string into a VARCHAR(10) column, SQL is going to bork!
But my main point was the restrictions being implemented by the database - rather than in the code.

Emeli Sandé - Read All About It, Pt. III[^]
Last week's SOTW reminded me of this one, mainly because of the beautiful piano play.
I actually learned about this song back in 2013 from a Britain's Got Talent act: Attraction - Shadow act - Read all about it. Britain's Got Talent 2013 - YouTube[^]
The song was originally a rap song, with lyrics by Emeli Sandé, but Emeli released her own (far better) version of the song, which would be pt. III (there's also a pt. II, but I don't know it).
The song has a message, I guess everyone matters and deserves to be heard.
Not sure I agree, just turn on the news and you'll see plenty of people who deserve to be silenced, but maybe those aren't the people she sings about.
One thing is for sure, Emeli's voice may be heard

I never understood the video blocking in certain countries (other than copyrights).

Nice clue (only just catching up with last week's CCCs). However according to many on here, the "definition" should be at one end, so "Clearly perceptible delta after double six" would be even better.

We were both vaccinated in Jan / Feb this year. We had the Pfizer variation. Over the past three weeks we were both very much exposed to two sick family members who later tested positive. One was my grandson that we drove home from school, after he developed a fever and started feeling poorly. On the way home he sneezed and coughed all over the car's interior.
The other was our adult daughter, who lives with us. We are unavoidably in contact with her every day. I started worrying that we may be positive, so we had the test this morning. The testing lab reported that we were both negative. YES!! 
I credit the vaccine with our good fortune in avoiding Covid so far! The two family members appear to be slowly getting better.
