you need to set the height and width of the element like this
ExtendedButton b = new ExtendedButton();
b._myval = dtButtonsToCreate.Rows[i][0].ToString();
b.Text = dtButtonsToCreate.Rows[i][0].ToString();
b.Click += new EventHandler(OnButtonClick);
b.BackColor = Color.Red;
b.Name= dtButtonsToCreate.Rows[i][0].ToString();
b.Location = new Point(i * 100,100);
this.Controls.Add(b);
