It's probably a double edged sword, at 84kg and no sugar you'll probably be around a lot longer too.
I've got the opposite problem as I laid up next to my wife this morning and she had to move away because my belly was uncomfortable hanging over her.
How's your garden? I've gotten back into gardening over the past year as my kids have grown up some and my neighbors have stopped renovating and their paint spray isn't covering my garden beds any more. I'm about to start planting our fall garden as I'm struggling to keep my remaining plants alive through the 38+C days of August.
My garden is a disaster I'm trying to keep the fruit trees and berries going, but I am just so busy nowadays that I don't get much time for growing veggies and so on. It's really hard, not working from home, I used to be able to just start a sprinkler and so on through the day, AND see quickly if the sheep broke in and were eating something.
I'd like to do more, but I just struggle for time.
I'm fighting to find a balance myself. I'm working full time and helping my wife start her full time web design, development and content management shop. She's hiring her first two employees this month, and we think we can keep the pipeline full to manage the new employees.
I've found that there is something about getting my hands dirty that is intensely satisfying and the more I can do it the better. Are you still traveling as much, or are you sticking around your home base more?
I've actually become increasingly involved in charities that exist to help refugees, mostly because the media here likes to demonise them and so do our politicians. So, that's really where my time goes. The other day I said something about the vacuous TV my wife likes and she said 'I have house husbands and you have refugees'. Not sure that I regard them as equivalent, but, sure
So, I work in the evenings on Angular and Kinetic JS, and then I talk to people who are in detention, or in other countries, or in the community and feeling isolated and struggling to get by.
I've got to say that you don't do anything by half measures. I've done a few things to help kids in the foster system in my town once a year and you are working to help people completely cut off from direct support. Kudos to you.
I don't think I'd have ever pegged you as someone to adopt web technologies, especially angular. I've been converting an asp.net web forms + WCF site to angular on the front end and MVC on the middle eventually, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. I like where it is because it cuts out a ton of boilerplate code, but I'm concerned about how fast it is moving and how far off the current library is from where it will end up.
Thanks. It's been incredibly rewarding. It's draining at times, at least half of my friends have talked to me about suicide. But, I wouldn't change it.
Funny - I've been doing nearly all web stuff for a long time, and even back in 2002, I was writing web sites pretty much all the time. Why would you write an app and mobile apps, when you can use HTML5 to do almost anything, and have it run everywhere ?
I basically stopped the diet a year ago when we went to the UK and France and never got serious about it again. I seem to always have a trip somewhere that I want to take advantage of. So, I was glad for the thing happening at work to underline my determination to get serious about it again. I actually make desserts using dextrose ( fructose is the bad sugar ), and I allow myself some chocolate once a week. But, it is a test of my will when a whole new swathe of Tim Tam flavours arrive, AND there's a couple of cake shops locally that I'm proud to say I've tasted everything once, so when they get new stuff in, that's hard, too.
I am trying to get rid of beer belly. I am vegetarian so all I did was, stop reduce eating potatoes and oily food. I also walk for about 4 KM every morning, do some crunches(that ab exercise) and play badminton in evening. No visual improvement for others but I can now see the big toenail while standing straight and looking down.
I can't quite sugar. I need it for tea in morning. Not after that at all.
The idea is that sugar is addictive. It messes up your ability to tell when you've eaten enough. I lost weight because I eat a lot less when I pay attention to my appetite, and the theory is that no sugar helps me do that.
I will admit, I love coffee with no sugar now, but I just stopped drinking tea, without sugar it is noxious. The other alternative, is dextrose ( because fructose is the problem ), or stevia.

I just quit coffee because I started to feel the impact on my heart, however I drink green tea and butter blended with a stick blender which is quite good. Adding a little cinnamon also helps with the sweetness without adding sugar, and yes I've seen reports that fructose can be as bad for your liver as alcohol.
Sugar is, at the very least, empty calories, i.e. it gives you energy and doesn't fill you up at all. There's a certain amount of evidence that suggests it's also addictive and messes with your appetite mechanism even beyond that, though I don't think that is a settled question yet. But just adding calories for no value will make you fatter than eating the same stuff and not the sugar, for sure.
I stay away from processed crap food which has the nice side effect of keeping my fat, sugar and salt intake low, and despite eating quite a bit including a lot of carbs I don't have any weight issues.
Exercise is still good for you, though, independently of the fat question. Being fit and fat is arguably better than sedentary and thin, as well as being fun (it releases endorphins so it is physiologically 'fun').

Eh, I think Williams had a lot more effect on most of our lives than Diana. He and Carlin were my two favorite stand-up comics, and they're both gone now.
Not shedding any tears for someone I never knew personally, or even saw in person for that matter, but still... Sucks that he's gone.
EDIT: I think a lot of the media coverage is from one of two camps... 1) People who knew him personally and are genuinely mourning him. 2) People who think posting something sad about a well-liked celebrity will make them more popular or get them some more hits/followers/likes/etc.... Mostly #2.
Being entertained by them is being affected by him.
Looking at it from that point of view, I totally agree with you. I was meaning not affected to the extent that I want to rush out and place flowers, or some mawkish poster, on some hastily created "shrine to the great man".
