How can you tell when you are Middle-Aged?

1) You don't understand what the young peasants are talking about.
2) You struggle to read Chaucer in weak candlelight.
3) You hate rowdy taverns
4) You constantly worry that you might have The Black Death.
5) You neither know nor care who Blondel is sleeping with.
6) Crusaders seem younger every year.
7) You struggle with new technology, such as the Heavy Plough, and the Longbow.
8) You find Gothic architecture too modern.
9) You keep forgetting who the King is.
10) You dream of buying a second hovel in Anglo-Burgundian Paris.

I am doofus. I read this as middle aged like in mid life crisis.
As I read your list I thought that you were referring to old age.

I thought OK he has been drinking or something.

I was just about to reply with references to affairs with sheep and convertible sports cars that attract younger sheep, then it dawned on me.
He is not talking about old age or mid life but middle-age.

I always enjoy your posts.

Just wish you would tell all those people with the sheep jokes to Elephant Off.

I actually know exactly how you can tell you're middle aged, and I know because it happened to me, and then a week later to a friend of mine, two days after he laughed at me for telling him my experience.

It's when you see a whole crowd of 18-to-20-year-old girls, and you realize that (a) ALL of them look good to you, not just some of them - i.e. you no longer notice minutiae, and that (b) you can't have ANY of them.

My only consolation was that when this happened to me and to my friend, my friend was two years younger than me (well, actually, he still is)...

What the commodore takes a huge keyboard to accomplish, the spectrum can accomplish and better with 9 keys[^]. Also, the spectrum graphics are better Poke tongue | ;-P

It's not even looks like C64 - a bit resembles Amiga 500, but not identical...
And why should you build a 8 bit computer for a few hundred dollars if you can buy a 32 bit for 30 and put an emulator on it...
