Operations doesn't usually get the same effort towards testing than most development, at least unit testing. Still, there are some valid use cases. (more: DZone)
CSS the way it was imagined.
Variables and calculations are (eventually) coming to the CSS spec (like it needed more diversity). In the meantime, you can get the benefits with a nice CSS pre-processor, like this one. (more: Myth)
