This is the first time I'm doing a deployment of a web part so please excuse me in case I'm making a silly mistake. My solution has about 3-4 webparts that I developed over the Win7 environment and now I need to deploy these to the remote server for testing which is Win Server 2008 R2. I made the wsp file which I moved over to the remote server, then I used the powerShell command Add-SPSolution and Install-SPSolution with -webapplication and -GacDeployment switches. The trouble is that the wsp gets installed, that I know because when I do stsadm -o -enumsolutions, it shows an XML output showing that wsp and its status as "Deployed". But when I open up the SharePoint administration website, go to a page, edit, add a webpart then it does not show the web part in the list of web parts.
I think you're missing the Register tag at the top in the master page where you specify the assembly, in your case, that would be the AJAXToolkit assembly that is to be registered in the program.
I'm also new to Sharepoint and if you're trying to implement Ajax Toolkit in SP2010, its not going to be so straightforward mate, that's all I can tell you right now. You also have to get an older release of the AJAX Toolkit coz the latest one is compatible with .net 4.0 while Sharepoint stands at 3.5!
My objective is to select all workflow list items that are not "complete", pass the associated Excel workbook to a routine that will edit and post the workbook to an Access database, then update the workflow item with a "completed" status and a string of error messages passed back by the update program. Pretty simple. Wish I could do it without all this programming, but I must respect my client's environment.
My client allows programmed access to its Sharepoint sites via Web Services only. I tried using Access 2007 which would have been perfect, but I get a strange intermittent failure. Since the app I need to code will run unattended, intermittent errors aren't tolerable.
So, I (a vba programmer) have dived headlong into C# and SP Web Services. Honestly, Web services aren't as much a mystery as is the parsing of XML and use of C#. All the help stuff is in C#, so I need to do that...
I used Jennifer Lewis' code to get the list I need to get. Did that successfully. But all she does with it is write it to the console with no formatting. I went to the Stramit CAML viewer and I can see the list I want (see XML) but how do I do what I need to do?
I'm trying to implement security trimmed controls in SharePoint and I'm quite new to this. My requirement is to hide or display a certain content (it could be anything like OOB webpart, custom control, navigation link etc.) on the SharePoint main page or MySite based on the user permission. How do I accomplish this?
it could be anything like OOB webpart, custom control, navigation link etc.
These are somewhat mutually exclusive. If you are implementing it then it isn't an OOB webpart.
There are many ways to accomplish this depending on what your requirements are. If a list view webpart is being used then the items displayed will be based on the security for the list itself. Other controls use Audience settings to filter content. And of course custom controls would need to implement their own logic or you could use the SPSecurityTrimmedControl
I have added a dataview(through SPD) to the displaypage of a list which displays filtered records(based on id) from another list. I have enabled the "Add New"(record) link for the dataview. Here i want autofill a particular field with the ID of another webpart on the same page when a new record is inserted into the dataview. Is this possible? if so pls guide me to achieve this.
We have a custom SharePoint list created which has several columns ranging from single line of text to multi lookup values. We need to retrieve 10 columns based on the selection criteria from the UI. The result set may vary from 1000 to 4000 in number. What is the fastest way to retrieve this result set which varies from a count of 1000 to 4000? We need the entire result set but we retrieve only few columns. The entire result set is needed for computation of the data to be shown on the screen. I have given the code which we are using for retrieval. This code takes around 20secs to retrieve the results as we have 7000 records in SharePoint at present.
SPSite spSite = new SPSite("Site");
SPWeb web = spSite.OpenWeb();
SPList custom = web.Lists["ListName"];
SPQuery query = new SPQuery();
query.Query = "<Where><Eq><FieldRef Name='Column1' /><Value Type='Text'>Column_Value</Value></Eq></Where>";
query.ViewFields = "There are 10 columns configured to be retrieved which can be single line of text to multi lookup";
collection collection = custom.GetItems(query);
//This result can be of 4000 records.
I'm building a Master-detail type form where the master form has a SPGridView where we have linkbuttons to enable the user to click a serial number of a product and I would like to have the details of that product opened up in a new window. But I dont know how this could be made possible in SharePoint 2010.
I am working on the project that need to allow user to select multiple documents in a document library and print selected documents together. I found it is hard to implement. I searched online, but I didn't find any good solution.
I saw there is implmenation using jquery to add checkbox column into document library. is there the best way to do it? In the server side code, how can I know which documents are selected?
