I am having a word 2010 document which has a Document Information Panel coming up when the document is opened from SharePoint. I am looking to write an add-in which a) could ensure the DIP validations are all fine and b) if not, prevent the word document from closing. c) Also prevent the document from being saved into any local folder - i.e, the document should be saved only into a SharePoint document library. Would all this be possible with your add-in? if then, I would be buying them immediately.
this is the requirement
It hasn't been too long since I have started development with Sharepoint so please forgive me in case of my ignorance
I'm trying to basically connect two webparts with the Provider and Consumer where the provider has a SPGridView of products where I wanna click on SerialNumber field (a linkbutton) and go to the products details page where the details would come based on that serial number of course. So I want to simply pass that serial number over to the other web part.
The problem is that when I that when I add these two web parts on a page and click on the arrow button to get to "Connections" menu, it is greyed out with the message: "The web part you are connecting from does not allow authoring of connections"
Here is my check list of possible problems:-
- The site does allow connection
- Browser is IE9 which should be compatible I guess
- NOT SURE if webpart zone disallows connections coz I don't know how to check that yet.
- The webparts itself should allow the connections I think. Here's the code sections for you though:
The Interface for provider/consumer
public interface IProduct
From Provider Web part
protected void lnkSerial_OnClick(object sender, EventArgs e)
if (sender != null)
_SelectedSerialNumber = ((LinkButton)sender).CommandArgument;
[ConnectionProvider("Product Serial Number passing provider")]
public IProduct ProviderMethod()
public void ProvideSerialNumber()
From Consumer Web Part
[ConnectionConsumer("Product As Realized Consumer")]
public void LoadProductAsRealizedDetails(IProduct providerInterface)
_Product = providerInterface;
ProductAsRealized product = RealizedProductMethods.GetProductAsRealized(_Product._ProductSelected);
Please tell me if you see something wrong or have any ideas for this. The trouble is that the basic example I followed for doing this works just fine on the same site here but this one isn't working. Would greatly appreciate any help!
SharePoint will format the date based on the local. If you want something different the best way to handle this would be to create a custom field with a custom field control to support your formatting request.
I need to write a webpart to manage the list.But i just learn it so i hope someone can help me
to do it.ThanK you very much!
• Create a list
• Delete a list
• Request a list with a textarea for CAML Queries
• Show items
I know it can be done by interface(it's very easy in the sharepoint home page).But it's the work require to do the webpart's experiment.But it's a little hard for me
and I don't how to set about this.So i hope someone can direct me.
By the way I use the sharepoint 2007 and visual studio 2008 to develop the webpart!
thank you very much,Now I have only confuse how to build the interface to interactive with the user to input the parameter.
Show item maybe just use a dropdown list to show all of the list then select one list then reflect to the textarea.
it doesn't need a grid view.
I have a SharePoint 2010 Document Library in which multiple content types have been added in the New Document Menu. Now, when a user clicks on any of these items, it will open locally installed Word with an empty document based on that Content Type (template).
Now when the user presses Save, in the Save Dialog, the Document Library from where the user came from is displayed, but the users can still go ahead and select any other locations such as their My Documents or Desktop on the left navigation pane in the Save As Dialog.
The requirement is to restrict that the users saving only into that SharePoint location. How do we prevent them from selecting any of the other locations in the Save As Dialog
I have a Custom Document Information Panel on a Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Document Library. In the DIP, I have fields in which custom InfoPath rules have been written to validate certain fields. For example there is a From Date and To Date where an InfoPath rule validates that To Date should be greater than From Date. The validation rule also highlights the box which has an error.
Now the issue is, when the user presses Save, word validates only REQUIRED properties and does not respect the DIP validation errors, which means the user can still go ahead and save the document into the Regdocument library.
