In case if we try to upgrade the SharePoint 2010 site to SharePoint 2013 and InfoPath 2010 to InfoPath 2013 then will it work?
It should. Normally the upgrade won't cause any bigger problems, when you worked correctly with your solutions and changes.
SharePoint 2013 and InfoPath 2013 are working good together. I use them weekly (not daily).
I have created a custom approval workflow using Sharepoint Designer 2010. The workflow starts when a document is selected for publish a major version and routes it to different approvers depending on what the document is. The workflow seems to be working OK, but at the end of the workflow the approval status is not updated. I tried adding the "set field in current item" action at the end of the workflow, but approval status is not in the drop down menu.
I can see that the approval workflow that comes with Sharepoint has an option to "Update the approval status after the workflow is completed" and I was tried creating a workflow using this to see what this does to the workflow process in sharepoint designer, but after creating a workflow in the Sharepoint website, I cannot see the workflow in sharepoint designer (I can see the workflows I have created from scratch under "List workflows" and the "Globally reusable workflows" but not the one I have just created.
Can anyone tell me either how to look at the design of the new workflow I created through sharepoint website, or how to update the approval status in a custom workflow?
By the way, I have I have Full control permissions (I am part of the sandbox owner group)
I cannot use copy paste in rich-text box through Infopath published in my sharepoint site,
is it limitation from windows server or you might know how to enable this (copy & paste) feature in rich text box of Infopath,
Now I'm using SQL server database backup/restore for my sharepoint site,
I stopped using STSADM command for Backup Restore due to the
"Error: The backup is from a different version of SharePoint"
I get this error when I use STSADM -O restore on the same server that i got Backup!
I checked my SharePoint Farm current version from :Central Administration->>Servers in Farm
Configuration database version: 14.0.6120.5005
Configuration database server: SXXX\SharePoint
Configuration database name: SharePoint_Config_c82e5917-bbf1-414c-bbe6-50da5ae22039
Can you guide me if there is any way to improve the "different version of SharePoint" error?
I have googled a lot, i couldn't find anything can any one help me with this that, can we have transaction control mechanism in SharePoint 2010. Please Reply if any one has any solution or information regarding this.
can we have transaction control mechanism in SharePoint 2010
Simple answer: no
Transactions are not designated in SharePoint (not in 2010, not in 2013). Why not, you may ask. The answer (official by Microsoft) is easy. It's no Database but it's a asynchronous collaboration system.
As it's asynchronous and every action is done by timers, it's not possible to include transactions by standard.
So you may ask, if there is a none out-of-box-way for transactions?
The answer is: it might be. It depends on the things you have to do. But many functionalities are not possible with such a workaround and it's a lot of programming work todo.
Well you have to implement it manually. If there is control on a list needed the best way is to put the data into a database and to import that data into a list. So transactions are available.
The SharePoint BCS would help there.
Well I wrote a C# programm to backup the contentdatabases. It works pretty fine but each time the file "000000B6.bak" shall be created, there is an error and in the logfiles I read that the file could not be found (hey! it should be created and not be already there).
So I tried a backup direct in the manage console. The same. Everytime the file "000000B6.bak" should be created (independent from the content that is backuped) there is an error.
Backup-SPFarm -Directory c:\temp
So "C:\temp" is there, the first 181 Files are created then there is that error (same for some following filenames). I have administrativ rights on all elements, the complete farm.
Has anyone discovered something similar or perhaps a solution?
As far as I know there is no out-of the box way to publish a sharepoint foundation server site with public. Therefore are the internet server editions of sharepoint. For using sharepoint foundation public sites you need to have MS Internet Connection License.
I am unable to delete pages from my website. I went to site settings and chose "sites and workspaces" , however upon trying to delete the page,I got an error message stating " There is no web named /(name of my page) "
A page isn't a website, so the way is wrong. If you want to delete a page than open that page, choose "site" in the ribbonbar and there you can use "delete site / page" to delete it (I'm not totally shure about the naming because I use the german edition).
There are differences between WebSiteCollections, WebSites, Sites and Pages in SharePoint (Google gives further informations) so you must be shure what kind of element you want to delete to get the proper way.
First time poster here so I hope I haven't messed my post up...
I am currently using Sharepoint at work with a third party web part that utilises CAML for queries. things so far have been going well until I ran into my latest problem which I cannot solve and hope that someone out there could lend some assistance.
"Action 1 due date" to be less than "Today" AND the Status not equal to "Completed"
OR "Action 2 due date" to be less than "Today" AND the Status not equal to "Completed"
This pattern will carry on for all four actions. I can get it to partially work but it seems to disregard the Or clause.
Thank you all in adavance.
<Query><Where><And><Or><And><Or><And><Or><And><Lt><FieldRefName="Action One Due Date"/><ValueType="DateTime"><Today/></Value></Lt><Neq><FieldRefName="Action One Status"/><ValueType="Text">Completed</Value></Neq></And><Lt><FieldRefName="Action Two Due Date"/><ValueType="DateTime"><Today/></Value></Lt></Or><Neq><FieldRefName="Action Two Status"/><ValueType="Text">Completed</Value></Neq></And><Lt><FieldRefName="Action Three Due Date"/><ValueType="DateTime"><Today/></Value></Lt></Or><Neq><FieldRefName="Action Three Status"/><ValueType="Text">Completed</Value></Neq></And><Lt><FieldRefName="Action Four Due Date"/><ValueType="DateTime"><Today/></Value></Lt></Or><Neq><FieldRefName="Action Four Status"/><ValueType="Text">Completed</Value></Neq></And></Where></Query>
