Why are they going from the key to the factor? With the computing power they used, why not just start multiplying prime numbers together and creating a HUGE db of the results? Then look at the keys floating around and see if it is one of the pairs you've already multiplied? I remember somewhere reading that this task was enormous in itself, but if you are going to spend so much effort on factorization of a single number (2700 computer years, whatever that number means), certainly in those '2700 years' you could stumble upon the factors for a couple https-encrypted conversations. Eureka! The pin number for some citizen who has $250 in their account! Confused | :confused:
