Not at all. He was and still is a brilliant cyclist. I agree with his air in tyres, water in bottles analogy. In that respect, yes, he was no more saint or sinner than any of his contemporary competitors. On the BBC this morning, they interviewed the head of British cycling. Now, excuse my saying, but that man is a Wayne Kerr deluxe, full of vitriolic spite because Armstrong was a greater advocate for cycling than he ever was. If perjury charges are laid against Armstrong, I hope he comes out and names every single person associated with doping in his era. There must be quite a few doctors in active practice who were involved who now have an uncomfortable feeling around their necks. I never expected much from the Queen of Syrupy Shyte Oprah which is probably why LA chose the softly-does-it-test-the-water-first interview.
They claim many riders in Armstrong's years were clean and disadvantaged. To be honest, many of those riders didn't have a fraction of his talent with or without doping so in relative terms, he was still way ahead of them. The biggest c*** though is that useless POS Floyd Landis.
Without doubt though, the greatest troubled genius in the saddle was Marco Pantani. Armstrong was and still is, the greatest cyclist. What he did was wrong for sure, but compared to the others he was no worse.

BS. He is an arrogant jerk. I won't go into that debate anymore, everybody here knows about how much I despise this clown.

The problem isn't that he doped and now confessed, but destroyed people in the process while claiming he was clean. This is a man who not only peddled a lie, but fought ferociously to protect that lie, even if it meant harming others, including well meaning sponsors who put their faith in him. When it came time to be held accountable, he not only lied, but sued everyone he could (and won; many are now suing him.) Even coming clean was timed to be after the statute of limitation.
Plus, I don't think he had as much talent as is claimed. Until he started doping, he was a better than average rider, but by no means brilliant. (There is a strong possibility that his cancer was caused by doping.)
I'm also curious why Floyd Landis is scum. He called out Armstrong AND WAS RIGHT. Yet, Landis has been demonized.

IF that were the case, I don't really see what he stood to gain through cheating.

He had to compete against core riders in other teams that were on drugs. He had to compete on level terms against those that could have challenged him. The vast majority of the domestiques and specialist sprinters would still be less if they took drugs and he did not.
I really hope he identifies everyone involved in the back-office teams who played a part. His answers on Oprah's interviews were carefully measured as if he knew the questions in advance. Perhaps he cheated on that as well?
Maybe we'll see the real inside of it all later.

I asked someone if he had a desktop, and didn't know what that was. He also didn't know about laptops, tablets, netbooks, etc. He knew about the iPhone. That's it. Sad, isn't it?
