Hi,
I have written the following code in javascript and when cancel
button is clicked in alert box, the record is getting saved and when again
second time when cancel button is clicked the functionality of
the cancel button in the alertbox is working fine.My issue is at the first time
my cancel button is not working and my record is getting saved.can anybody let me know the solution of this issue.

The code block written looks good and I used the same code block and found that clicking "cancel" working as expected. In your situation if it is not working then try following
(1) I suspect that following line might be creating problem and as a result you are not getting correct result.

Change the line to check whether it can find that object as follows, ( I suspect that following line could give 'null' in your actual code block,

Hello all,
First off I am using VB.net
I have a dropdown list in the Item template.
I would like the user to select a value and update the database without clicking an update button.
Here is the Code for the DDL

* You need to determine the row from which the event was fired and get the id.
- Simple means would be to associate the primary key data to the dropdown using attributes.
You can use these data to save the info to the database.

Hi all,
I am creating a xml file dynamically. If there is no data for a particuler tag then XMl file automatically close it like <test /> but i want to the tag in following format
<test> </test>
I am creating XML using following tag.
writer.WriteElementString("test","");
Can anybody please help me?

I have a user control with a datagrid and few other information on
title and summary. I would like to render this control to an Excel file !
The problem is , as soon as i try to open the rendered xls file, Excel reports an error, that the file extension is not valid, and that it is not from a trusted resource.
Is there a way, i can remove this error ?
Any help , would be appreciated!

Hi Nasri,
In final year project you need to think for both your best learning and maximum score you can achieve from the project.
If you want to develop web based project using ASP.NET and C# then my suggestion is to contact good company who can give you chance to develop project and provide you resources for the same. Like you can go for Financial projects and apply your maximum technical skill and functional knowledge and that will give you nice learning and good placement even.
If you required any technical guidance then surely ask to me..

Hello,
i have one question regarding textbox update. What happens is i have used one textbox say txtbox1 and button btn1 in aspx page. And i have one usercontrol in ascx page. On the button btn click event, i am getting values from user contro to the txtbox1. And on the same button click, i am using that txtbox1 value to insert into the database. but Since its a same button click, though the value is showing in the txtbox1, it is not inserting into the database. So what can be the reason for that ? Is that because of not using postback thing or any other reason. I am using asp.net with sql server.

What do you mean by this? Does this mean you are using AJAX to get value from usercontrol to textbox and then textbox to DB?
Whatever the case is, did you debug it? What did you got?

Is it two client events working on the same button? If so, what is the order? Are they async? They need to be in order... synchronously.
Post a little code, if these doesnt help. The button click event part, the way you are binding the methods and whats in the menthod.

No error at all. Actually i have one user control in ascx page. And using that user control, i put that result in the textbox which is in aspx page. now the value which i am keeping from user control to that textbox is in button click event. now On the same button click, i am trying to use that textbox value for inserting into the database. but it is not sending that value to the database though once i click the button, that value is showing in that textbox. So just wondering is that because i didnt put the postback thing??

You need to be little more clear Suchita!
From what i got from your details, the flow should be:
1. Fill some value in Usercontrol ascx: ValueA
2. Press buttonA in ASPX parent page.
3. buttonA, brings ValueA in the textboxA of ASPX parent page
4. buttonA, send the ValueA in DB to store.
Now, if the sequence is right, they need to be SYNCHRONOUSLY, i.e. one after other.
Further, step 3 & 4 needs to be coded together in its handler. Add on if i missed something and also post a little part of your button click event.
