Why are you sending a data object reader to your business logic? I think if you have maintained a clear separation between data layer and business layer its not a good idea to send data reader to business layer.

I dont think so, as control rendering has nothing to do with VS 2010 or 2008 rendering is same in both version. Sorry bro I can't catch your problem.

I'm not able to find the root cause of your problem.
please check the following and let me know
1. DS contains table at 0th position
2. table[0] has valid data
3. the code under second if condition getting executed
if (e.Day.Date.DayOfWeek == DayOfWeek.Saturday || e.Day.Date.DayOfWeek == DayOfWeek.Sunday)
{ e.Cell.ToolTip = ds.Tables[0].Rows[i][1].ToString(); }
after day render event calender is not getting refreshed again or any other event
I have tried this code and its working fine for me.

I think There is no need to bind the data in grid based on your filter criteria every time from database. you can keep the datatable in viewstate if you are concern about time consumption in fetching data from DB. there are several ways to do so with gridview.
please provide some code you have tried.

Are cyou creating a custom control? or you need validation for your text box. if you want to use validation u can use ajax regular expression validator or you can use Java Script.

make it to your lowest version like say take 2003 excel sheets extension. I think the lower version files can be opened on higher version Application. give it a try.

I think DayRender() is available only with asp:calender control and not with ajax calender extender.
