Will I be the first site admin to go postal?
If you're bored and wondering what on Earth we've been doing with the site then the simple answer is "upgrading". While the tempation was certainly there to wipe everything, install the .NET preview and rewrite the entire site using ASP+, C# and ADO+, common sense prevailed.
Last week saw the server upgraded to Windows 2000 and SQL Server 7. Many of the databases are using tried and true Access (believe it or not) but as the weeks go by all systems will be upgraded.
The online profile system is now up and running which will allow you to modify such things as your biography (which appears at the end of each of your posted articles) and whether or not you recieve the newsletter. You can turn your newsletter subscription on and off, or even change your mailling address from here.
Next week I'll be heading back to Australia to enjoy what's left of our winter. I do apologise for being slow to answer emails this week. I'll have more time next week after the jetlog has worn off.
Last week at PDC means that many articles sent in by you guys and girls are in a holding pattern. Priority has been given to getting the site back up for you guys, so article backlog posting is next.
