To me Rogue One is the most 'grown up' of the bunch. It feels the most like a serious sci-fi movie. Of the main set, episode 3 is also more serious. The others of the original six are just aiming a bit too low in the age demographic for my tastes, though I still watch them from time to time.
Leaving aside a few silly bits like "Leia's Body in Space on Ice", I actually like The Last Jedi. In particular those final scenes between Kylo and Luke are visually pretty epic.
I just realized this is the original movie. Never heard that before.
It all went downhill about the time McDonald's started selling drinks in SW cups before the movie was even out. When I first encountered the Jar Jar Binx character I almost puked. It was obvious this cuteness was added to appeal to the kiddies and no other reason. It could have been a great series but they needed return on investment.
Yeah, I was 16 and working as an usher at the movie theater. We sold out 700+ seats in the big theater for Star Wars for quite a while. I was not as aware of many ulterior motives then. Those of women especially.
If you stick to the strict definition, SW is fantasy, not sci-fi. Being set in space doesn't make it sci-fi. It's got more in common with the traditional fantasy genre. Trying to retcon midichlorians into the story 4 movies into it doesn't make it sci-fi either.
That was news to me back in the day when it was first explained to me, but in hindsight, that's absolutely correct.
If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.
