Configure IIS with Windows Vista Home Premium Edition

Introduction

Many developers have this problem that how Visual studio 2005 will work on vista. Some developers also have problems regarding installation of IIS in windows vista. so in this article i m showing u to how to configure IIS 7 with visual studio 2005.

Steps for configuring IIS in windows vista

For Installing IIS in windows vista follow this steps.

1> Go to Control panel

2> Select Programs

3> See there is a link below for Turn windows Feature on/off. select that link.

4> When u select that link a window is opened with installed features. In that window there is a treeview with different options selected. In that you have to select this both options.

Internet Information services,World wide Web services and Web Management Tools.

5> select ok.

For checking IIS is installed or not open internet explorer and write http://localhost . you will find a IIS 7 screen.

Now how to configure Microsoft Visualstudio 2005 on windows vista

If you are installing Normal Mictosoft visual studio 2005 installation on windows vista you will find different problems when you will debugging or running the applications.

so for resolving that problem Microsoft has released a Microsoft visual studio 2005 with SP1.

1> Install a Microsoft visual studio 2005 with SP1 on windows vista.

2> Install a Visual studio 2005 upgrades for windows vista setup. This setup u can find on microsoft site. Its around 29mb.

3> After installing upgrade You have to install Hotfix setup, it is also available on microsoft site. it is for windows vista and this setup is around 4.5 mb. This is patch released by microsoft.

4> Now u can use your vs2005.

If this patch are not installed you will find error for debugging, error for frontpage server extensions etc.
