We use handler files for handling HTTP requests in ASP.NET. Silverlight is a RIA framework, it's completely unrelated to APS.NET and thus no ASP.NET technology is present in it.
If you're asking about posting to a handler (.ashx address) you can do that with a HttpRequest, the same way as you would do with any other server.

Thanks Amitosh. Yes, agreed.
But the launching page and request/response processing is through Asp.Net only for Silverlight apps. Therefore only at client side SL comes into picture but for server side it is Asp.Net, which takes for all the processing.
So, my question is can I call a handler file from a SL screen (Xaml.cs or viewModel)?

You do it by sending a request through the HttpRequest class to the handler url and passing url parameters and/or custom HTTP headers.

i have a listviwe that bind with datatable.
now i want search item on listviwe .
My code is below. Please have a look.

I think the issue is probably with item.Content, check the type it will not be what you are expecting.
Why are you manipulating the UI, you should be working with the underlying data so rather than iterating through the ListViewItems you should be working with the datatable and setting a field IsSelected which should be bound to the UI control.

That should give you a clue - the Items collection contains the actual items from your data source, not the ListViewItems they're wrapped in.
Try:

This is the first time I have started a silverlight project on the current machine I am on with Visual Studio 2010. Until now, I have been programing ni ASP.NET.
When I first tried to start a new Silverlight project, I was told I needed to install a fresh copy of Silverlight. I had to uninstall Silverlight as well as my versions of the Silverlight SDK. After uninstalling and reinstalling (now I have Microsoft Silverlight 5.1.20513.0 and Silverlight 4 SDK 4.0.50826.0) I was finally able to create a Silverlight Project. But the XAML code instantly failed to load in the IDE

I recently started a job at a company doing software testing. The company has a XBAP application where we record our test case data, however all the controls (buttons, labels, tree nodes, etc.) are all in Chinese. Since I'm only person on the test team who doesn't speak/read Chinese, the developers in the company aren't willing to translate the entire application. Right now I have to resort to having someone with me to translate as I use the application.
What I'm hoping to do is develop an application where I can hover over/select a control and have the application translate the underlying text using Google (or some other translation software). I'm hoping this is somehow possible, as it would make my life a lot easier and increase my productivity, but I don't even know where to begin.
I've tried searching on Google with very little luck. The only thing I found that seems like it may be able to help is the System.Windows.Automation library, but I haven't found any examples that are applicable to my situation.
Is there someway that this can be done through a .NET application or an IE plug-in? Any suggestions or links to tutorials/examples on how I can get started on this would be greatly appreciated.

Isn't there a browser function/widget/thingy that acts as a magnifying glass, this may be the way to get the part of the screen under the mouse, grab that as an image, do a bit of contrast comparing to get the shapes, turning that into unicode may be a challenge, I expect Google has an api for their translate tool.
Just some thoughts, I have no idea whether all that can all be done and it may be simpler to internationalise the original app!

I wish they would just internationalize the application; I even offered to do it but they won't give me the source code (even though they know my long history of programming experience). The computer has IE10 on it and the only thing I see is a menu option that says "Zoom (100%)" but it is grayed out.

A DataGrid Column could be hidden, but I dont think you can remove it...

The DataGrid by default generates its columns automatically. If you set its 'AutoGenerateColumns'-Property to False you can prevent this and maybe the extra column disappears by doing so.
Additionally you can define all the columns manually like so:

<DataGrid.Columns>
<DataGridTextColumn Header="Test" />
<DataGridTextColumn Header="Test2" />
</DataGrid.Columns>
</DataGrid>
If you disable auto generation and define your own columns there should appear no additional columns in the DataGrid.

Are WinForms components inside a WinformsHost element rendered with maximum possible z-index?
They always seem to overlap any WPF wlement, even with a higher Z-Index. Anyways to fix this? This is really causing much trouble when trying to embed a lengthy WinFormsHost component in a scrollable.

It's called the Airspace issue. It's fixed in .NET 4.5.

Are you sure? From what I've seen, there was a fix in the beta, but they removed it from the final release.

I have several datatemplates defined in a resource dictionary (in Resources project)
My application is in a separate project that references the Resources project. Appropriate datatempalte is loaded depending upon the object that is set to the datacontext during run time. Some of these datatemplates have buttons. How do I handle the click event of these buttons. I tried eventsetter but got XAML errors abt not being able to set eventhandler.
