The Theory proposed is not 100% right. But that's true when the any piece of code is running for first time during execution of application in Dotnet comparing to C++ application(VS 6.0 compiler).
Reason is Dotnet compiler generates MSIL, which will be compiled to Native code by JIT on first execution of each MSIL piece of code. Once it's compiled to Native code it's similar to any C++ program compiled with VS 6.0 compiler.
But when comes to application specific, the performance definitely depends on the algorithms you are implementing.

I have a case of CopyFile(src, dst, false) returning ERROR_FILE_EXISTS (customer PC, no more information). ('false' supposedly indicates <c>not to fail if the destination already exists)
I searched the KB, and didn't find any description of that. Did someone encounter the same behavior?

Hi Developers,
I have a problem. I want to retrieve the serial number of my hard disk either using C++/Vc++.
Actually i am doing a Java project where i want this functionality unfortunately Java does not support that feature as far as my knowledge is concerned.
So if i get a method either using C++/VC++ i can use JNI to get the functionality into Java.

hi,
COuld someone tell me how to get the IPX Address.
I tried to use GetAdapterInfo but for some reason the api is not getting recodnised though have have included the header file and given the path in the project settings.
maybe somebody could point out the reason for the ehader not being recognised.

I'll assume you mean an unsigned character string.
1) A string (by default) is a signed character array ending with a null character ('\0').
2) "string" is of type (char*).
3) To treat a string as an unsigned character string:
char* pStr = "string";
unsigned char* puStr = (unsigned char*)pStr;
3) To convert and individule character (in a string) from signed to unsigned:
unsigned char uch = (unsigned char)pStr[i];
That's all there is to it.

Hi,
I have an application (in VC++ 6.0) wherein it displays the images in ListView. So the application starts displaying the images from the Top left corner (0,0).
Now I have added the manifest file (to give XP look to application) in applicatoin resource successfully. (as outlined in the below mentioned link http://www.codeguru.com/Cpp/controls/controls/article.php/c5227/[^])
The application is having the XP look but the images are displayed from the Bottom left corner.
Question:How to set the origin of the ListCtrl to top left corner (0,0) so that the images are displayed from the top left corner (0,0) ?
