Hi all,

I am wondering what control I can use to perform the following action. I'm trying to portray a family tree. What Win Forms controls can I use to accomplish this or do you perhaps know of something else. Confused | :confused:

If you want to show some data in tree view we can use ‘TreeView’ control and it should be enough to fulfill need.

In case if you need something different, please clarify what kind of interface is required.

Hi,

Thanks for your response, I don't think that a treeview will work, cause see, unlike a treeview a family tree has 'branches' stretching left and right, thus a treeview will not work.

Yes I agree that tree view control is not very suitable for this requirement, however you may try to find some third party control for this purpose.

I searched for ‘family tree+c#’ on Google and found that many such components are available.

Therefore you may check any of them.

A treeview could work (although not very elegant). A family tree is really a treeview rotated 90 degrees right and each child/group of children are centre aligned instead of right aligned (top aligned vertically before rotation).

I can't imagine it being that hard to develop a custom control to do this yourself though.

There are commercial products our there that provide a .NET wrapper to the IE extensibility layer try here[^]. If you google around, maybe there are opensource/free alternatives.

The IE extensibility layer is normally used via c/c++ though. MSDN Guide[^]

dear friends,

I have problems dealing with adding records to the database using oledbcommandbuilder here is my code which I get from www.homeandlearn.co.uk, its a tutorial site.
the error say error in Insert into sysntax...
this is my code...

Hi,

i am using System.Net.FtpWebRequest class to do FTP operations. In my FTP folder after processing i need to move files into another folderwith in the same FTP

FTP ROOT
      File 1
      File 2
      File 3
     Archive
After downloaing the file i need to move file1 ... to Archive how to do it.

I want to get printer information using “Printer job description language “in c#.
My question is:
• How to send PJL command to USB connected and Lan connected printer in C#

I have installed “HP LaserJet 1300” printer which is running on “DOT4_001” port. Now I want to send PJL command to this printer and want to get information about printer.

I have a Following Interface.

I have Implement that interface in the following class
public class Implementor : IToString

In Another class i am calling the interface method Mystring()
My Question is..
Using the object instance we can directly call the method MyString
Like ..
Implementor dd = new Implementor();
MessageBox.Show(dd.MyString());

But Why we use interface instance and we call that method..
Like..
IToString Reference1 = new Implementor();
MessageBox.Show(Reference1.MyString());

What is advantage using interface here?

None, until you have a completely unrelated class, which you want to share the common interface. You can't have one reference point to two totally different classes, but you can have a reference to the part of those classes that is defined by the common interface.
