I have CR template and Desktop Apps that access the CRViewer and convert them into PDF. The problem is that once the application installed on another PC without VS2005 installed the Program corrupted and would not run.
I have add references for all Crystal dlls.

I have a scenario where I have an application that allows a user to open mulitple documents on different tabs within the application.
If the application is already running and the user opens a file associated with my application from Windows Explorer, how can I get the document to open in the instance of my application that is already executing as opposed to opening a new instance of the application?
I have seen posts that check whether or not a process / application is already running. In the examples I have seen, if the application is already running a messagebox is just displayed indicating as such. However, in my case, I need to assign the document to the executing instance of the application.
Any help would be appreciated?

Dotfuscator Community Edition, gets installed with Visual Studio. You can find it in the start-menu under the Visual Studio Tools, and it gets installed under

i developing a windows application with C# and that application need database . so i used sql server2005 for that. It is purely for a stand alone system. so that i cant deploydatabase online.
so how to add sql database to deploying file and who to maintain conntection string , and how back up the datafile when he require.
1. is sql express required in client system?
2. If not how to deploy all data in my data base including structure?
3. and awhat is procedure for entaire deployment of application with sql database?

You can't redistribute SQL Server 2005 per application without the associated license costs.
It sounds like you want an embedded database that you can use from .NET. Why don't you look at System.Data.SQLite[^], the excellent C-based embedded relational database with .NET bindings. The authors have placed it in the public domain which will allow you to redistribute it willy-nilly.
Best of all, you can "pre-load" the database and distribute the data with your application!

I had some free time between projects, so I thought it would be a good time to install this on my development box, and see what needed fixed.
The install went great, no problems, I installed the "family" update that came out not long ago, also went great, and turned on Visual studio.
I opened up my current project (website) and built it. It failed on "using System.Web.Extensions" "are you missing an assembly reference?"
I removed and added the reference several times, no effect.
I repaired .net and visual studio, no effect.
I found a blog that talked about uninstalling the .dll from the GAC and adding the pre-sp1 .dll to the project directly, still no effect.
Has anyone seen this? if so,is there a fix or workaround that I can do, so sp1 works?
If not, is there a safe, easy way to uninstall the sp1's?

Hey, long time reader first time poster.
I am finally at a point in my software development to start worrying about business objects and a great business layer. My projects are getting larger and more complex by the day and i am finding that my simple DTO objects are not going to be able to cut it and they will have to just be on my dumb objects. So what i am getting at is what interfaces i should consider when i start building my new objects?
I have done IEditable and really like that and am sort of curious on what other interfaces i should build into my data bound objects. (INotifyPropertyChange, ITrackingChanges, etc..). I deal mainly on smartclients with a service (WCF) right now but will be moving a bit toward web based apps since that is what clients are asking for now and still utilize my services. (Hope that extra info helps you help me)
Any info appreciated peers,

P.S. Also I will be creating my own typed lists to hold these objects and a business layer mapper to convert my DTOs to the smart business object. So any information on what has worked/not worked for you would be great or books that i should have on my shelf.

I've an application that does FTP uploads asynchronously. Its target is a unix machine. This machine is also a Predictive Dialing System (Ayaya). After uploading the file to the FTP we have to download that file into the PDS. This is a normal process we do. Earlier we used a different application (CuteFTP) to do the uploads. The uploads happened smoothly then. But the uploading process did not block the other (downloading) process I've mentioned. So that resulted in the files getting downloaded in spite of the uploading process still being active.
Now we have a .net application to replace CuteFTP. I don't know about the internal details of how the FtpWebRequest object works however I've observed that the uploading process "blocks" the downloading process. If it blocks for too long and error is reported in the PDS telnet console too. In a way this is good behaviour.
But sometimes in spite of the application reporting a complete 100% upload I am not able to do the download. The downloading process is blocked. I wonder if I am doing something wrong! Are there any properties I must set for the FtpWebRequest object while to upload a file to a unix machine in order to ensure that "downloading" is reliable from the unix machine (PDS).

I use vc# 2005 express edition. I published my project to a unc share. There you can find a setup.exe, and other related files. From another machine which has access to the share I run the setup.exe.
Just want to know what happens after this point. Does the exe get copied to target system? When I do the setup I have a shortcut (or a .appref-ms) placed in my start menu. When this is clicked it checks for a new version of exe, and the exe executes.
Does the assembly run off the UNC share or is the exe copied to the local machine and executed? What is actually happening?
