For the bigger dogs, Dynatrace seems to be something of a must.
I note that it is "performance" issues. Lots of times that may not have much to do with code. When it is to do with code it is probably going to be architectural where fundamental design flaws can be corrected and change the metrics considerably.
Some of this is people treating literally everything as preoptimization and relying on Dynatrace to optimize where specifically needed.
I might argue that you aren't gonna innovate terribly much, and maybe it'd be counterproductive if you did when you're banging stuff out that chokes under load but don't know why till a Dynatrace tells you.
...But I am a good bit salty today.

NoSQL databases and their query languages could help perform the tasks relational systems were never designed for. Surprise! There are tasks relational systems were never designed for! And for those there are other tools!
Well, that doesn't affect the tasks that relational systems were designed for. SQL is still a as good a choice for those as ever!
(Side tracking a bit: Why don't we have a selection of relational languages with different properties? SQL is far from perfect! For general programming we have scores of languages of quite varying character. We should have alternatives to SQL as well!)

I feel like every time there's a new NoSQL product both Microsoft and Oracle incorporate it into their RDBMS offerings.

I think the article gave some pretty good reasons for using obsolete technology, starting with "if it ain't broke, don't upgrade it."
