The new release, Java Update 40 [3], implements changes announced by Oracle earlier this year [4]. They include allowing network administrators to create a DRS (Deployment Rule Set) that defines which version of Java an app should use. Such definitions could allow critical internal apps to use older versions of Java, while forcing external apps -- those more likely to carry infections that exploit flaws in older editions -- to use the latest version. If an Android device (phone or tablet) has ever logged on to a particular Wi-Fi network, then Google probably knows the Wi-Fi password. Considering how many Android devices there are, it is likely that Google can access most Wi-Fi passwords worldwide. Seeing as how most of them are "default", it's not surprising

Revenge or no, this mass migration will definitely have a negative impact on Oracle's open source relational database. It's not MySQL, it's *their*SQL

What's performance in MariaDB for larger DBs like these days? I've got a friend who's a MySQL DBA; and a few months ago he said that despite all the "Oracle is going to cripple mySQL in favor of their own DB" fear mongering the reality has been that they've improved it's ability to scale across multiple cores significantly letting big DBs run much faster than before.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?

I have no actual data but have read that Maria is starting to out-perform MySQL. It's always going to depend on context, but they are being aggressive in making MariaDB a contender.

Microsoft isn't done taunting Apple about those new iPhones. Not by a long shot. After trying to seize publicity immediately following Apple's latest hardware unveiling, the company is back with seven — yes, seven — "fly on the wall" videos that ridicule both new iPhone models. Ugh. Why?
Really? You need to go there? Why not just come up with better phones (oh, you have that), or a better user experience for smartphones (oh, you have that too)? Why not just remind everyone how you're better instead of poking at a keynote?
But I do have to say, "And the beauty is, we can charge whatever we like" is sadly true.

Reasonable to try to market your product:
- without mentioning your product
- by mocking a competitor for adding a feature your product doesn't have
- by mocking a competitor for adding colours to their product (that yours already does)
- with moderately bad acting
- by using visual references no one outside of your marketing team are likely to get
- using the word "Brah" in your marketing
Sorry, I don't think it's reasonable. It's not in the category of insulting your customers (the old Dinosaur ads for Office are a low point hard to match), but not good marketing.
