Internet companies run on advertising for other companies, what do you think Google earns most of the profit? Where does Facebook get money? They get most of the money from showing ads, well they're not pop-ups but ads are ads.
So even when you pay, they'll still show you ads, but no wonder they'll be popup or integrated to your website etc.

"AdBlock" - do you know how they make their money by blocking ads?
Well, actually quite easy: companies are forced to pay them big money in order to get their ads not-blocked...
And again you see the ads, just made sure that some money was sent to AdBlock, and hence you must see more ads to compensate for that money paid for not blocking the ads. Great!

When it comes to code, there is great truth in the old saying: “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” Do you have some library or framework for which, when people come to you with questions, you say “Before I answer that, the thing is…”? Of course you do.
But teach a programmer to fish and...he still doesn't know how to use StackOverflow?

Watching a couple of webinars about OWIN/Katana gave me this perception as well. Node has the whole "asynch by default" paradigm going for it (not sure about RoR - never went down that path myself). OWIN/Katana nudges .NET in the "It's a whole lot easier to write asynch server side code" direction. I hesitate to say it rises to level of "asynch by default", though.

Sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans tell The Verge that the software maker is tentatively planning its press event for September 30th to detail upcoming changes to Windows as part of a release codenamed "Threshold." The latest guess (on the product that doesn't exist)
