One of this week's Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 7 has been withdrawn after some users discovered that it blocked installation of software containing digital signatures, including first- and third-party software, and even other Windows updates. I guess it was supposed to ship later? (Near the end of Weven support?)

Or maybe the updates don't want users to update the systems at all.
I remember, 2 weeks ago I re-installed Windows 8 thinking this time I will get more space for my projects, and it was like 13GB free space after installing all of my required softwares (such as Visual Studio, MS SQL Server Express, Eclipse and JDK etc), and just after 2 days I recieved a notification saying "Restart to finish installing updates...". That was an unlucky moment, because just in 27 minutes, it left only 4GB of the space on my harddisk.
Now, I hate updates!

If your system is running fine and you don't experience any problems after updating, you can cleanup your installation from time to time using the DISM tool to regain some space.
Dism /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase ...is your friend here. More info on TechNet[^].
Especially after a new installation with an older ISO release and dozens of updates downloaded and applied it makes a difference.

Folks seem to enjoy pointing out that I use printf in many of my examples of “modern C++”, as if printf is not really proper C++. Apparently, I should be using cout. If it ain't broke...

 Use what works. The older the better. Stay portable. Don't use the latest thing simply because it's the latest thing.

I personally love using the printf() command, and it seems more legit (at in my opinion). I do not only love this one feature, but I prefer C language as compared to C++ in many ways and I believe, C is way more better, although there are new fixes to the C++ making it a little more efficient.
But, after all this, writing,
printf("Hello World!");
.. seems reasonable, as compared to writing,
cout << "Hello World!";
.. Oh, well who can blame Bjarne now, everything seems to be working.
