Not to worry, there's a growing movement of "from language X to Javascript" translators. Eventually, Javascript will become something nobody actually codes in, much like assembly, IL, or VB.

Not to mention transpilers so that you can write Typescript instead of Javascript. This allows you to write Javascript that uses interfaces, classes and has Intellisense and hints in the Visual Studio IDE.

Although complete and utter crap can also be written in TypeScript or CoffeeScript (or any language)
At least it won't be complete and utter crap by default

The most promising thing on the horizon is Web Assembly - which will finally allow developers to write languages targeting the browser without transpiling to crapscript.
All the major browser vendors have committed to it (except crapple, but they are the new MS).

I have updates disabled...I don't trust Micro$oft anymore. I'd like to go back to the old style of downloading patches and bug fixes only when you need them.

Ever since I had to disable the Windows 10 "update" on all my kids' computers as well as my own, I've disable automatic updates and now go through the tedium of checking each update. Microsoft has hinted that the Windows 10 update will eventually be automatic. Perhaps it won't suck by then, but it only reaffirms my choice to disable updates.

It's not just because of Microsoft either. I have an ATI based graphics card in an old box and it nagged me to update, so I did...screwed up the HDMI sound output on the thing...took me half a day to figure out it was the update and find old drivers to install.
So now my philosophy is 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' 
Kinda sick of everyone adding trendoid social networking or creepy search engine spying to their software as well.

Several years ago, I switched to using only NVidia because of the nightmare of ATI drivers. Yeah, NVidia has their issues too, but no where near as bad as ATI.

I tried an NVidia card once...it was kinda crashy, which put me off...one day, I will try them again.
My current graphics issue is the Intel HD graphics on my new Gigabyte motherboard is periodically crashing...thought I would try to suffer with the onboard graphics this time but it's looking like it's time for a new graphics card too
