Well, it's good that they didn't complain about the new system itself. I take it as a win when people reviewing / testing software I've made only have small complaints about cosmetic issues.

I have almost everyone in the office doing that annoying slow bacn-and-forth chair rocking that emits an annoying squeaky door sound.
We're practicing for when our boss comes back from vacation on Monday.

I once had a coworker with a bird whistle noise as his notification for receiving a text. I was the maintainer of some in-house software, so I found a gif of the noise and added it to play when a button in the about menu was clicked. So he would get a text and then there would be a chorus of bird whistles from a bunch of other cubicles. Sometimes we'd play it just to make him think he got a text. Good times.

A much used heavy glass-and metal door down the hall started squeaking really loudly and annoyingly, today.
It's no joke when I say it's been driving me up the wall.

That's a temporary solution. Hammer is definitive.

When we had a baby, we took over a used baby stroller with squeeking wheels that I should have oiled before we took it into use. It didn't happen until the little girl started making squeaking sounds, just like the sounds from the wheels. I don't remember whether that was before or after she learned to say "mommy" and "daddy", but when she started squeeking, I dug out the old oil can.
Old memories ... It sure was a good idea to write down such things when they happened. I really enjoy digging up my old daddy's notes from those days.

No it is not, but it can bite you if you are not careful so maybe it has similar properties.

I was told that a new project was going to be using state-of-the-art tools - I found out later they were referring to the project manager!

Compiler warnings? 0.0 max.
Warnings from hysterical Code Nazi tools? Who cares?

Code should compile without warnings, with the -Wall flag set.

My default project is edited to include "Treat warnings as errors: All" and "Warning level: 4", as well as ticking "XML documentation file" - which gives a error if I forget the XML header for a public item.
If your code has warnings, there is probably something you haven't thought of ... particularly if you are a beginner.

All warnings are on in VS2017, except for some obscure projects made by students, brrrrr

*SOB* Hey! Our code works! *
* Or at least something almost similar if you disable the warnings.
