Was that just deciding to enter local politics; or did he do something more substantive unwise (presumably while drunk) that made him pull the plug?
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Referring to travelers as "pikies" and "thieving troublemakers" on Farcebook while trying to get elected didn't go too well: in the middle of the biggest swing to the Tories, he converted a Tory safe seat into a Labour win ... and hasn't been back since.

…and no c**k-ups with tenses either!
I'm not normally this quick.…. some years ago, when my dad was ill (dying, in fact…) I moved back home for a couple of years to live with my parents, to help my mum out, mostly. She was really good at doing The Times crossword, and we’d sit around in the evenings solving it. She’d get the majority of them, and I‘d feel really pleased if I got a couple before she did! But I suppose I learnt something about how to solve them….

I watched the first Thor film last night, it resonated rather well with the image text.

So, if you get the support calls, we now know that you sit in India. Do you really think it's a good idea to pose as Griff here?

For all we know, there is a god-forsaken village in India named Wales, where the sheep roam and the sun never shines.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

I love it when tech support claims to be from Texas. I grew up in the DFW area which is where they always seem to be if they are truly in TX. Plus I visited Austin enough that I could always start a conversation about how the weather was, if such and such intersection was still a pain, or if some restaurant was still in business.
It's fun to listen to them squirm as they try to keep up the lie. Plus when they really are there, I can have a conversation with a Texan. Win-win in my book.

I have a friend who want to do some study to get a better job.
He hesitates between nurse and web developer.
Well I am a successful all around (except game) developer, and I love it. So I advise him to got that way.
But hey, just like a thread a few hours earlier. Some people have very bad experience with IT.
So.. not sure whether it's a good idea. Plus I got the perspective of a senior developer. Being a junior is tougher.
Any tips? What should I advise him to do?
|
|

If he is interested in pursuing development I would advise him to download the VS2017 Free Editions including samples and similar stuff and see if it gets his interest from there. Then he should be able to figure out if it is worth going after.

Wow that is a couple of disparate career paths. Employment prospects for a nurse are dramatically better than a web developer but I suspect the work is dramatically more difficult. A good, professional nurse is always in demand whereas web developers are a dime a dozen, especially junior ones.
But nursing is a vocation, web developing is just a job. He may also have no concept what a developer does and may perceive it as an easy method of work, disabuse of such ideas.

This guy has not done any research whatsoever and is just day dreaming. In Australia a degree qualified nurse is a far better career choice than web developer. The conditions and job security for nurses cannot be compared with any but a few web developers. He does not seem too serious about either.
