That's a beautiful machine! 500 is a great size. I have a 450 that I learned on.
I've been flying planes since the 80's, then got into helicopters about 8 years ago - because someone told me it was one of the top 3 hardest of all hobbies.
The thrill of getting it in the air in my driveway after months of work was unreal.
Now we are flying quads and hexicopters. I have an HD camera on my quad that takes some stunning photos. And a FPV camera on the hex that sends realtime video back to my VR goggles.
The best part about helis and drones is that you can fly anywhere. I can just walk into my backyard and fly for 15 minutes, then go on to something else. No need to pack up and drive to a field or club and go through all the trouble to fly a plane.
So what are you using for radios? Futaba? Graupner?

I have three T-Rex 450 (plus a cheap clone that I adopted from someone who gave up), my old Blade 450 3D and a 10 year old veteran T-Rex 550E that I also saved from being scrapped.
Basildane wrote: Now we are flying quads and hexicopters. That's a totally different flying principle. They are so ugly that the earth repells them.
Basildane wrote: And a FPV camera on the hex that sends realtime video back to my VR goggles. I have a very cheap camera under the T-rex 550 and made two flying videos on Youtube with it. VR would be fun, but then I would also like to have telemetry and a HUD.

And I would not have much room for planes in my little appartment.

I had to open up and clean the potentiometers several times or risk losing control in flight. Since then I use a Spektrum DX8 which is of much better quality.

From Marc Clifton's post, below The Lounge[^], I need to mention that we are still awaiting our Nigerian based concurrency.
And, of course, the appropriate account access to make large deposits for any existing currency of any type you may wish.

phht, apparently the director of a huge bank in Yemen passed away without leaving a will and apparently I'm the most eligible relative to receive his inheritance worth millions.
The funds are intestate with some government department and some lawyers so all they needed was a few thousand US dollars to process the paperwork - was way worth it for the millions I'll get.
Any day now ...
Thinking this weekend I'll trash this cobbled up windows machine and order a proper Mac Pro.

What does "Mining Bitcoins" mean? I'm too old for this kind of sh*t.

I thought mining was a fat guy sitting in a loader complaining about a 23 year old avaricious kid that keeps on owning him, that or a hairy dutchman with a perfect command of swear words.

It's like mining for nose gold, but more prone to cave-ins.
from google search: Quote: Bitcoin mining is the process by which transactions are verified and added to the public ledger, known as the block chain, and also the means through which new bitcoin are released. ... The mining process involves compiling recent transactions into blocks and trying to solve a computationally difficult puzzle.
To be honest, this definition needs further mining to get at its meaning.

It's very easy: They want to do a lot of transactions and need a lot of computer power to get all this processed. If you dedicate a computer to do some processing for them, you are awarded bitcoins for the work you did for them.

My version of it?
It's the act of wasting power on computations that are for the most part completely useless, and in the unlikely event you do get a bitcoin out of it, you still won't be able to trade it in for anything of tangible value, no matter what its current monetary value is reported to be.

I'm...not quite sure where this is coming from. You've been registered here for a week, this is apparently your first message, and seems totally out of place in this old thread.
