Let me be less ambiguous
They are a below average band who are only getting the attention and opportunities because they are young girls from a politically "hot" area. If they were a bunch of people that "progressives" don't salivate over they would get no attention and no opportunity at all. I predict that when their popularity wanes one or more will "come out" or "transition" or pull some other BS stunt to get them back into the limelight as if you pander to "progressives" you get mainstream attention.

I thought I was quite measured in my response.
I don't mind that you don't like them. Tastes differ. But I think your analysis is pure BS. They aren't even popular yet. They're fairly obscure. No record contract. Barely reviewed.
People "salivate" over them because they like them. They come from Mexico, yes, and they sing in English. But it could equally have been that they were white and came from Austria and sing in English, like the MonaLisa Twins. Would interest in them be due to progressivism?
FWIW, I'm not a "progressive." On the contrary, I think the currently dominant part of the progressives in the West can be more accurately described as regressive left.

Ok, I guess the fact that a below average band is getting so much attention, more than unknown bands that are actually good, is simply down to public tastes and nothing at all to do with the novelty of the band's members.

I spent much of my youth playing drums in rock / indie bands, but we were never this good. Excellent stuff! Thanks for the heads up on them, I'll be keeping my eyes open for them

There's lots of material at their YouTube channel.

They have an EP and two studio albums now. Plenty of concert footage around. They've opened for Def Leppard and The Killers.

I was actually checking out their stuff on Youtube last night. I watched them opening for The Killers.
That drummer seriously kicks ass. They're really good

Nice. Good for them.
I would pay $$ to see them live, sure.

They've also improved since then. An EP and two full albums now - all written by themselves.

Boring. Nice voice, bad singing, horrible guitar.
They may improve though.

That's the whole point, isn't it. Encouraging the young to succeed in what they love to do. At least I think so.

Yes it is - that doesn't mean I have to unconsensually consort with my ears to do so

True. It is often times challenging for me to keep a straight face with my own children when they want to play music, or do a theatrical skit, or show me some art work, that is well, um, needing of improvement.

Go for things like "where did you learn how to do that?" and "you must have practised a lot -- I'm told it gets easier, the more you do it", rather than saying it's "pretty good", or similar.
The danger with artistic stuff is that if you tell someone that their inexperienced attempts are pretty good, what they take away is "IT'S PERFECT!!! NO-ONE IS AS TALENTED AS YOU ARE!!!!", and that really doesn't do them any favours.
Make it a discussion, not an insincere compliment.

Yes. I found it interesting watching their progression from their cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman a few years ago until late 2018/2019. Or, a few years before that covering Brahms on the piano.

When I saw "Napalm Records" I already knew it was going to be good - they're the only major discographic house I can say I really like.
The song is great - not exactly my genre but some black/gothic/doom metal is always well received here

The Warning don't claim to be metal. I'd describe them more as rock/hard rock. Their second album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is heavier than the TEDx stuff and heavier than their first, XXI Century Blood, but it's still not metal. But it is good. All depends what you're looking for. I like rock in general from soft through prog to conventional heavy metal. it just has to be good!

They have imo. Though might still not be to your taste.

FWIW, with music I often start off with - Hmm, ok I suppose, nothing special. Then eventually I become a hardcore fan! Not saying that will happen here but it does to me anyway.

My taste is varied: from Blue Oyster Cult to Metallica, passing through Ministry, System of a Down, Judas Priest, Alice in Chains, Type O Negative, Tears for Fears and Modern Talking.
I find them a bit plain, like late '90s rock, which I usually don't like. They also (always to my ear) lack melody without compensating with anything: System of a Down, Nirvana and Sex Pistols lack melody but they have effing RAGE in its place, for example.
