It's always fascinated me the various ways you can solve a cryptic clue - in this case what led me to the "herd" part was broadcast ( so I heard something ) and globe had here in it - so I now have here, hear, heard and herd ! mixed with the Welsh factor and a bit of Blue Peter ! I definitely overdid the drugs in the 70s and 80s

I don't remember the 50s, 60s or 70s - although I was there - but that's due to extreme old age and bad memory kicking in (or not kicking in, depending on how you look at it).
I remember the 80s, it was.... ok, I don't remember anything prior to about 1987 when I got married and I haven't been allowed to forget anything since!

"Is it true that your life passes before your eyes before you die?"
YES.
"Ghastly thought, really."
Rincewind shuddered. "Oh, gods, I’ve just had another one. Suppose I am just about to die and this is my whole life passing in front of my eyes?"
I THINK PERHAPS YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND. PEOPLE’S WHOLE LIVES DO PASS IN FRONT OF THEIR EYES BEFORE THEY DIE. THE PROCESS IS CALLED 'LIVING'.
From the book, "The Last Continent". I still prefer "Small Gods"

There are so many things from my life that I do NOT want to pass in front of my eyes before I die. I really want to arrange my death in such a way that nothing like that happens.

I’m still hungry - I think.

Here is some more wholesome food: Sometimes when I tie my shoes in the morning they slip up the knot, maybe because they are synthetic and when I wear too long shoelaces, they sometimes untie when I walk. Very annoying.

Terry Pratchett is very wise, I always consult her works before making any decisions in my life. I would change my life to better suit her mood, because she is so smooth.

OK ... but ...
When I, in my childhood, learned about the slave trade, we were laughing at how the colored Africans (note how I use the PC term ) were fascinated by our shining, colored beads of glass, eager to sell us lots of slaves in exchange of a few of those.
How much more "sophisticated" are our own preferences - whether they are super-primitive games, YouTube cat videos or some "super-fancy" feature of the latest iPhone moedel? When seen from outside, is there really a principal difference between these and the glass pearls provided to the "colored"s?
Honestly: I find it hard to see the difference.
