I think the count of alternate web frameworks now is in the 3-digit range.
You probably would find something to satisfy you in that collection.

Do you see anthing revolutinary "new" in other areas of programming? Say, in new programming languages? Are not all of it (or at least 98%) just a new wrapping for concepts developed in the 1980s?

And based on programming constructs invented in the 1950s from mathematical theories developed in the 1930s using hardware architecture designs from the 1940s.

that's quicker than i expected. I'm eager to see the elimination of the multiple CLI/CLR implementations.

I don't read much news but in the little I have read I have not seen much about the virus and third world countries. That is where my big concern is because I believe they will see much more severe effects.
Not to knock on India but what will happen when it hits the slums? Or other very poor countries? Places where they die from simple diarrhea?
It seems that nearly everyone in the developed world has been exposed to the virus but I wonder how third world countries are faring so far.
If the world really cared it seems like we'd be spending more energy on the more vulnerable parts of the world.

Can't help others if we are dead, and let's be honest we have no idea how to even look after ourselves yet.

Nearly all government agencies are focused on containment here, and we are not sure if we have enough medical resources, including staff, to cope if it really takes hold.
So what would you have us do?

I quite understand his point. If everyone's overreacting than indeed "why do you care" is appropriate for a response. It must be taken in the context of your post (i.e., Corona virus).
That you care about others - who it is likely you will never know or meet - is commendable. You must, however, weigh in that as in the airline face mask analogy (parents must tend to themselves before their children) that we are looking at the flip side of "enlightened self interest" whereby taking care of our own urgent immediate needs is not only in our best interests but in theirs, as well.
No vaccine will be developed if the developers die off! For now, hope that the comparative global isolation of these communities will protect them for a while longer. At least until a reliable treatment is worked out.

W∴ Balboos, GHB wrote: as in the airline face mask analogy Totally different. In the airline mask case you have an immediate threat of losing consciousness and will be unable to help others. It's not an overreaction to put on the mask. We don't have an immediate threat of being unable to help. It's not at all the same thing.

Here, locally, literally millions of people are having having there life disrupted as schools are closed, almost any social gathering site is closed, restaurants, when allowed open, are take-out only, and a generally grass-root-to-ceiling effort to slow the inevitable progress to a manageable rate. Family gatherings are, to a huge extent, being cancelled. Churches and synagogues are closing - damn - even Mecca was closed down for a while.
Not an immediate threat? The only difference between this and the plane is the virus takes a week or so to kill you. The treat - becoming infected - is immediate.
Third world lives are not worth less than those in the industrial world - and neither are they worth more.

I feel like this conversation is going in circles. You seem to be misunderstanding what I am saying.
W∴ Balboos, GHB wrote: Not an immediate threat? No. We can keep taking care of ourselves. Not getting a mask on, as I already said, is an immediate threat to where we cannot help others. We do not have any immediate threat to where we cannot help others. Or, if you think we do, maybe you can explain how there is an immediate threat to being able to help others.

Don't ing dismiss everything that goes against your opinion as "over reacting". It's either an existential threat to human life or it isn't. Sh*t or get off the pot! This is already approaching or at the soapbox level. You welcome to take the next available transport to the third world to do whatever you think you can do to help out* - lead us by your selfless example to this self-declared over-reaction.
