I think they can. Orcs were smart enough to forge weapons and armor, so counting wouldn't be a problem. But I suspect that you've been to Mt. Doom before, and that changes everything.

I'm pretty sure those are Lembas sandwitches… with some Vegemite.

All tiny, compared to the majesty that is Olympus Mons[^]
Which to the best of my knowledge is still unclimbed.

Yeah, but my question was regarding earth.
Olympus Mons couldn't exist here. The crust isn't strong enough, for the higher gravitation.

Señor, how do you call this delicious crust around the Chili you served me? That's a clay bowl, señor.
I don't think that gravity has anything to do with that.

Olympus Mons has been dethroned! It's only the highest planetary mountain in the solar system now. The new king is a central peak in a crater on the asteroid Vesta now. Good that Commander McLane did not hit it when he tried to land the fast cruiser Orion VII on Vesta[^], much to the delight of his superiors.

Tricky question which is far more complicated than it seems.

If a mountain was on earth, wouldn't it sink and its earth base would get compacted? I assume that the question ought to be "What is the highest mountain on Earth?"

Mt. Everest. 29K ft. above sea level.

Who cares? I am way too old to climb any of them.
Also this sounds like a "Sheldon" question. You've been watching way too much "Big Bang" on TV.
Finally, the mountain of debt the US Federal Government has created (lovingly referred to as the "Deficit" and created by both parties), is more insurmountable than any of those you referred to.
Slow Eddie. For those that don't get the reference watch the movie "The Hustler"

Back in the mid-70's when I lived on Guam (Dad was in the USAF as an aircraft mechanic) I heard some of the other kids in school say that a certain mountain on the island (can't remember its name) was actually taller than Everest if you measured it from the bottom of the Mariana's Trench.
